If you need to move large pieces of yellow iron, heavy machinery or building supplies, you are probably going to be needing a flatbed. Flatbed trucking is used when the equipment or supplies being transported are too large for conventional dry freight trucks, or when the sides need to be "open" for easy loading and unloading, and also when the height is higher than that of a dry van.
When requesting a flatbed quote, please be sure to give the exact dimensions. No one likes surprises, and unfortunately, a 1, 2 or 3 inch difference can mean a big difference in the type of equipment we need to use. You should become familiar with "legal" dimensions, and the dimensions set forth in the "equipment specs" if you're shipping heavy machinery. The more you know about your product, the better we will be able to help you. For a flatbed, a legal load must not exceed the following dimensions:
In addition, the weight must not exceed 45,000 lbs. Many flatbeds can accommodate more weight legally, but these are not common and are not recommended. If you go over the specifications listed above, you are getting into an area called "Over Dimensional" (commonly called wide load, or heavy haul). We also have the capabilities of, and specialize in, the moving of over-dimensional freight; but again, we will need to know the dimensions and weight of the products you are shipping; so be sure to give us all of the information possible when requesting a flatbed trucking quote.
